Make the Simple Tunisian Earwarmer *Free Pattern and Video Tutorial*

Tunisian simple ear warmer free pattern and video tutorial

If you've had some time to watch the Absolute Basics of Tunisian Crochet, you're saying "Ok, Toni. This technique is super pretty, but I can't swatch forever. What's next?" I am so glad you asked, my darling. :-)

I'm excited to introduce to you to your first Tunisian crochet project, the Simple Tunisian Ear Warmer! I created this design as a beginner-friendly pattern for those just starting out with Tunisian crochet. I keep it easy by just working with one color and using the Tunisian simple stitch. And you won't need any special tools to make it! A normal 6.5mm crochet hook and a small amount of worsted weight yarn will do the trick.

Simple Tunisian Crochet Ear Warmer

Supplies: 6.5mm crochet hook // 80 yards worsted weight yarn // Yarn needle // Scissors or embroidery snips

  1. Chain 17 and complete a foundation row as normal
  2. Work 55 rows of Tunisian simple stitch, including your foundation row
  3. Sew the short ends of your piece together and cinch the seam closed, leaving an extra long tail
  4. Using your extra long tail, wrap the yarn around the cinched seam several times; once the wrapping is done to your liking, knot the length of yarn on the wrong side of your work and weave in your ends.

Easy peasy, right?! I love this design, and have made about a dozen for family and friends. When your ear warmer is all done, be sure to snap a pic and tag #TLYarnCrafts on Facebook and Instagram so I can share the love.

  • This was a good project to work up. A little small. Will be good for a child’s East warmer though.

  • The curl is normal on this project. when you’re done you could place the project flat in a heavy book or under a heavy book and let sit for a while to help straighten it out.
